The magnificent Itchimbía Cultural Center in Quito will host the World Travel Awards (WTA) in its edition to South and Central America on August 9.

The Also called “Travel industry Oscars” will bring together the leading representatives of this section at a national and international level, making Quito the center of world attention.

In the last edition, the Ecuadorian capital won the category as a Leading Destination in South America. The prize was awarded by World Travel Awards South America Edition, in a ceremony held in Lima, Perú.

Graham E. Cooke, president and founder of (WTA), highlight the importance of the awards ceremony in Quito: “We are delighted to have our first ceremony in Ecuador, a decision that reflects the important contribution that tourism makes to the national economy. The Ecuadorian touristic sector is enjoying a strong growth as a result of the Government’s program to improve the infrastructure related to tourism and also the chosen city stands out for its cultural history and for being a world-class destination”.
